Orbex Supports Greece Fire Relief and Recovery Efforts

We at Orbex are deeply saddened by the devastating wildfires that have been raging across Greece in the past month. As a company that values social responsibility and environmental sustainability, we are proudly joining the relief and recovery efforts with our latest donation to the Hellenic Red Cross.

The Hellenic Red Cross is one of the leading humanitarian organizations providing emergency assistance to the fire-stricken communities of Greece. The wildfires were brought about by a fatal heatwave that is currently affecting Southern Europe. In Greece, the dry conditions have fueled the spread of over 100 wildfires in July, forcing the “biggest evacuation” in the country’s history. The destruction is worst on the islands of Rhodes, Corfu and Evia. There, over 19,000 residents and tourists have reportedly been evacuated as firefighters continue to tackle the blazes.

At Orbex, we stand in solidarity with the people of Greece and commend the heroic efforts of the firefighters, volunteers and civil workers who are risking their lives to contain the fires and protect the public. With our latest donation, we aim to support the relief efforts of the Hellenic Red Cross in the affected communities. Specifically, the Hellenic Red Cross is working tirelessly to deliver food, shelter, and medical assistance to thousands of people who have been evacuated from their homes or are currently stranded by the fires.

Founded in 1877, the Hellenic Red Cross is the biggest non-governmental organization in Greece. The Hellenic Red Cross is recognized by the International Committee of the Red Cross and today is an equal partner of the family of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement. During its long history course, the Hellenic Red Cross has been providing humanitarian assistance to people in need, especially during emergencies, disasters and conflicts.
