German carmaker Volkswagen will not change its name to Voltswagen in the US despite earlier saying it would in a press release.
The name change was, in fact, an April Fool’s joke that was leaked to the media several days early by mistake.
Meanwhile, Daimler’s performance over the last year has been significant, as shares have surged more than 170%.
However, their legal risks around emissions still linger as the company agreed last year to pay out about $2.2bn in penalties and settlements to resolve diesel issues in the US.
Will this hamper the surge to record highs?
